Shaqodoon is the upshot of former-EDC “Somali Youth Livelihoods Program,” which provided youth living in Somalia/land with greater opportunities to access work, training, internship and self-employment opportunities. Shaqodoon is a Somali word for “job seekers.” The NGO prepares and links Shaqodoon with the local business community, other potential employers and above all encourages the youth to teach an entrepreneurial culture.
Shaqodoon is implementing a SomRep project in Hudur and Qansahdheere designed to address specific needs and constraints of agro-pastoral and pre-urban communities by supporting functioning and effective formal and informal groups, institutions and governance systems that support resilience-building at the household and community level.
Shaqodoon Organization is seeking qualified and experienced Community Mobilizers to be based in Hudur and Qansahdheere.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct community mobilization to sensitize targeted communities in all project locations in Hudur/Qansahdheere.
Build rapport with implementing partners, local authority and community leaders and beneficiaries.
Organize workshop and events.
Implementation of the communication strategy.
Receive regional staff and facilitate logistics.
Take photos and videos of project implementation and upload them to the platform.
Facilitate all project account opening with the project committees.
Engage with the local community to ensure a clear and consistent understanding of the project.
Conduct feedback system training and ensure that beneficiaries are sending their thoughts, complaints, requests and/or suggestions via the system on a regular basis.
Provide continuous guidance and support to project beneficiaries and provide necessary feedback and training to the targeted community.
Produce weekly updates and monthly reports on activities conducted and impact achieved.
Maintain receipts and attendance sheets for all project activities and submit immediately to the line manager.
Maintain professional work ethic with partners and communities as well as the local authority.
Process feedback received from beneficiaries including translation and categorization.
Any other activity assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Marketing, Communications and/or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience
Experience in outreach, communications, advocacy, and community mobilization
Must be a resident of either Hudur or Qansahdheere; the ideal candidate has lived in the community for the last two years.
Must have an excellent understanding of the Hudur or Qansahdheere communities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in English and Somali (fluent in Maay)
Honest and trustworthy
Proficient in Microsoft, mobile and internet applications.
Self-motivated, fast learner, must be able to work alone and unsupervised
