Baseline study of drought resilience capacity of communities in the Liben zone of Somali region, Ethiopia
CCM (Comitato Collaborazione Medica) is an Italian NGO operating in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda, specialized in health-related projects’ implementation, either in humanitarian and development contexts.
CCM has conducted several interventions in Ethiopia since 1982. CCM is present in different areas of the country: it is carrying out interventions in Amhara, in Tigray, Somali Region, in Oromia and Addis Ababa. From a long-term perspective, the organization’s projects are focused on strength the local capacities supporting the national health system to implement the health policies and strategies and promote health at community level. CCM projects adopt an approach based “on continuity of care” and they are focused in particular on sexual and reproductive health, maternal, neonatal, child, adolescent health and one-health. In related to the current activities;
This analysis will be conducted in order to produce baseline data and the evaluation of the level of resilience of the various kebele involved, this research will be realized at the start and again at the end of the project to compare the impact of the project in the community. The project is implemented in Dekasuftu, Filtu and Kersadula districts of Ethiopian Somali region.
S/he has the following major responsibilities:
Measure the level of resilience in the communities
To document the success, challenges and opportunity of the Multi Sectoral Platform
To define the baseline before the implementation of the project activities
To explore each community to determinate in each of them the major problem connected with the resilience and what the MSP can do to face it.
To provide appropriate and possible recommendation based on the findings which could be used by the community, local authority, implementing partner and other stakeholders
To assess the coverage services and system present in the community
To involve the Member of the Multi Sectoral Platform in the analysis of the resilience
Using semi-structured interview questionnaire based on CoBRA line
Preferable university degree in Social or Anthropological Sciences
Knowledge of the CoBRA questionnaire
previous experience with innovative platforms
Previous experience with NGOs
At least 5 years of experience in research and analysis of resilience is required
