SOS Children’s Villages Somaliland is a private, non-political welfare organization whose primary goal is to provide permanent homes and education to orphaned and abandoned children. A further goal is to contribute to community development through provision of social, medical and educational facilities with the aim of preparing our children for self-reliance as independent members of the community. Our selection processes reflect our commitment to the protection of children from abuse.
SOS Children’s Villages Somaliland is seeking to recruit one Health Officer who will be working with the SOS Family Strengthening (FS) in Berbera and performing a through Health promotion and community outreach in Berbera of Somaliland.
Key duties include:

Contributes to the implementation of all aspects of health component to meet programme objectives.
Responsible for the day to day implementation of beneficiary and wider community health awareness raising activities.
Develops detailed work plans and undertakes regular visits to the beneficiary households, CBO’s and outreach sites.
Builds the capacity and awareness of caregivers, children and community members on health related diseases.
Organizes regular supportive supervision visits with the district health management team to primary health care facilities close to project areas.
In partnership with CBO’s committee regularly monitors key hygiene practices of families supported by the family strengthening programme.
Provides referrals  and  counselling  sessions  for  caregivers,  children  and  CBO  committees  on


Lead execution of public health assessments in the field level; prepare preliminary assessment reports

Qualification and experience:

Degree in Public Health from a recognized Health institution
Counselling and psychotherapy skills are utmost requirement

A loving home for every child

Ability to carry out awareness campaigns to target vulnerable groups in Berbera
Knowledge on report writing is essential
Knowledge of child rights and child protection
Through Report and Proposal writing skills
At least two years of Nursing experience as a counselor
Excellent computer skills and ability to work with minimum supervision
