How can you make a difference?
Under the general guidance of the Education Cluster Coordinator, the position is accountable for the management of the Somalia Education cluster information. This (i) coordinated information management to respond to the increased needs in a comprehensive manner using an increased number of partners, ii) Strengthen the Education cluster data collection, management and analysis for the country; (iii) Assist in understanding nutrition cluster gaps, needs assessment,
The objective of a national WASH cluster is to ensure a coherent and effective Education response by mobilizing groups stakeholders to respond in a strategic manner to a humanitarian crisis.
The role of the Information Management Officer (Education), is to ensure effective Education management and analysis for effective strategic decisions on the impact of the response.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Assist the Cluster Coordinator / Chair in identifying and draft documents reflecting humanitarian needs and response gaps in order to ensure a more effective inter-agency response.
Provides training on data collection, analysis and management to government counterparts and cluster partners on a regular basis.
Map out, maintain information on all current and potential cluster partners, their capacities and areas of work.
Provide programme information for the production of nutrition cluster advocacy materials.
Ensures that the planning function of the cluster has quality information to assess progress towards expected periodic results on a regular basis.
Work with cluster partners to have a well-prioritised plan of information Management activities that provide all the relevant and strategic information needed to manage the cluster activities, and achievement of cluster targets.
Development and maintenance of standardized databases which can be used to capture relevant information for monitoring and planning purposes.
Liaise with OCHA’s Public Information Unit on the development of visual products and data-capturing systems in order to provide an effective service to cluster members and the humanitarian community as a whole.
Identify innovative ways for sharing information within the cluster members and between different clusters and regularly share cluster information with partners and relevant stakeholders as necessary.
Maintain and adapt agreed simple nutrition programme reporting formats and collate all the data provided by partners into a database, desegregated by gender, age, region on a regular basis.
Coordinate with other cluster information managers for complementarity and cross-cluster analysis of information on the emergency programmes.
Share with partners on a monthly basis the collated country/region/partner-wide nutrition statistics against agreed performance indicators.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

University Degree in Education, development, information management , social sciences or related field.
At least two (2) years in education information management and coordination work preferably in UN agencies, NGOs or government.
Knowledge of the education-related technical guidelines, standards, and indicators.
Proven statistical analytic skills.
Knowledge of mapping techniques.
Ability to translate planning specifications to technical briefs for data capture and analysis.
Ability to present information in understandable tables, charts, graphs and maps.
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel)
Fluency in oral and written English is required.
