Since its foundation in 1968, GRT (Group for Transcultural Relations) has been working with socially marginalized groups and individuals by setting up protection mechanisms in order to promote social inclusion. GRT is active in Somalia since 1996, where the main fields of intervention are: Community Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Protection (GBV and Street Children) and (forced) Migrations, being expression of GRT’s core areas of expertise.
Within the framework of GRT Education- Protection component, the organization seeks to fill the position of Counsellor.
The Counsellor will be responsible for:

The design and implementation of psychosocial rehabilitation/support plan of vulnerable individuals within Refugees and Asylum Seekers community (RAS) in Puntland, especially those with psychosocial and/or Mental Health problems.
Training and provide coaching on MHPSS to GRT staff in Puntland.

With technical and managerial support from GRT MHPSS focal person and PSS expert, the Counsellor will ensure that programme’s goals and objectives are met in a timely and effective manner.
Design of rehabilitation plans for individuals in need of counselling; Regularly follow up the psychosocial improvements of individuals; Coordinate with other staff for the referral of vulnerable individuals; Filling a database to keep track of the counselling activities;
Timely provision of reports as directed by line manager;
Facilitate MHPSS training to organisation’s staff in Puntland
Briefing on a daily basis to GRT Field Coordinator.
Weekly/Monthly reporting (including statistics) to MHPSS focal person and GRT Field Coordinator based on line manager indications.
Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or related fields.
Professional trainings in psychosocial support and counselling.
Minimum 3-year experience in working in protection programmes; Fluent spoken and written English.
Able to write accurate reports, minutes and databases.
Good understanding of humanitarian practices and emergency activities. Honesty and truthfulness.
Capable of working pro-actively and independently, while being an excellent team worker. Demonstrated experience in capacity building and training.
Excellent computer literacy.
Experience in working with local stakeholders such as health clinics and NGOs. Strong negotiation skills, preferably in conflict resolution settings.
