Somali Youth Development Network(SOYDEN)  is a nongovernmental nonprofit organization working in Somalia since 2002. With its headquarters in Mogadishu, SOYDEN works in the areas of Youth and women empowerment, political accommodation and reconciliation, social healing, governance, conflict early warning & conflict early response, peace building and stability etc.
SOYDEN in implementing “Supporting the Wadajir National framework for local governance” – a local governance formation process in Hirshabelle region in Somalia, seeks a qualified candidate to fill the position of:-  Monitoring and Evaluation officer. 
Tasks and Responsibilities

Provide the specialist gender related advice and support to SOYDEN project team
Work a team member to better mainstreaming the gender concerns from a programmatic perspective, taking into account the needs of women in leadership and peace building
Build the capacity of women within the community to promote their meaningful participation and leadership role in different forums and committees in the communities through partner;
Lead in integrating gender and protection into MEAL; set specific indicator for process monitoring and follow up, advise team in getting gender specific information through spot monitoring and joint monitoring;
Ensure knowledge management; documentation of  gender related documents, case study and best practices;
Ensure sex , age and caste based disaggregating data are collected through all the thematic areas and documented; for example, snapshot of district;

Professional skills and qualification needed in the position 

Bachelor’s degree in development studies, social studies or relevant discipline with 2 years of experience;
Knowledge of gender and gender equality;
Experience in field coordination, monitoring and follow up;
Experience in event management and coordination;
Highly skilled in report writing;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English including demonstrable ability to work with others and as part of a team;
Knowledge and skills in computer usage including word, excel, power point, and social media;

Personal qualifications needed in the position

Committed to rights based and gender sensitive work, committed and with strong social mobilization skills and sanitation and hygiene knowledge

Commencement: As soon as possible
Contract Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
