Organizational Background

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, nutrition and food assistance for assets creation through provision of in-kind and cash-based transfers.
This position is open to qualified Somali candidates with good knowledge of the local area Female candidates in particular, are encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer and the overall supervision of the Area Coordinator, the incumbent will undertake the following responsibilities:
Perform specialized and/or standardized processes and activities within the specific technical area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines;
Perform accurate, timely recording of data following corporate standards and guidelines such as: preparation of food release notes and monthly distribution reports to be captured in COMET;
Assess project performance including utilization of resource and participate discussions on new or revised procedures and practices;
Work and exchange information with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities;
Support communication and activities with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions;
Act as a point of contact for resolution of general operational queries requesting assistance where necessary;
Organize project-planning missions, meetings and briefing sessions to identify and analyze problems related to project implementation;
Backstop Cooperating Partners as pertains SCOPE registration including upload and correction of data;
Enroll WFP beneficiaries into interventions in SCOPE system with accuracy and suspend those who are no longer entitled for assistance;
Review and process the invoices submitted by the cooperating partners and ensure that their payments are done as per the agreed timelines;
Within the specific area of responsibility, compile data and support analysis and preparation of reports to support operational decision-making;
Maintain accurate records, within the specific technical area of work;
Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis;
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:         Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area.
Experience:     At least four years of responsible support experience in development, food assistance, food security analysis or in a field related to programme functions in a humanitarian context is desirable.
Language: Knowledge & Skills:
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Somali language is a requirement.
Ability to facilitate implementation of food assistance programmes using basic understanding of principles and good practices of programme design, implementation and monitoring.
Demonstrates ability to facilitate, food assistance programme implementation that deploys full range of transfer modalities with an understanding of basic principles guiding modality selection and implementation.
Understands basic technical concepts and data and their relevance to food assistance programmes. Experience in working with technical teams (Nutrition, VAM, etc.)
