The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, nutrition and food assistance for assets creation through provision of in-kind and cash-based transfers.
This position is open to qualified Somali candidates with good knowledge of the local area. Female candidates in particular, are encouraged to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer and overall supervision of Area Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
Assist the Programme Officer in COMET database management;
Coordinate the capturing of monthly Co-operating Partner (CP) reports in COMET; Prepare food release notes for various WFP activities;
Assist the Programme Officer to ensure beneficiary registration and transfer of assistance is done through SCOPE; including backstopping on process such as enrolment, cards printing, top-up and redemption aspects;
Assist the Programme Officer in ensure timely review of invoices;
Ensure timely and comprehensive filing of documents in line with WFP corporate guidelines and procedures; Maintain accurate records and files within the area of work;
Enroll WFP beneficiaries into interventions in SCOPE system with accuracy and suspend those who are no longer entitled for assistance;
Review and verify statistics and data including identifying missing information and report to senior staff accordingly; Perform other tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:     Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Experience:    At least three or more years of responsible support experience in reporting, development, food and humanitarian assistance or programme related field.
Language:     Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement.
Knowledge:    Experience utilizing computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other standard software packages and systems. General knowledge of UN system administrative policies, rules, regulations and procedures would be an added advantage.
