SOS Children’s Villages Somaliland is seeking to recruit a Project Accountant who will be in charge of various accounting and Finance duties in our Somaliland projects.
Key duties include:
Guides, Controls and Coordinates Financial Activities at location level and ensure financial transactions are in accordance with SOS Children’s Villages financial rules and procedures.
Prepares and monitors the programme budgets and makes sure that all financial transactions are incurred in line with the budgets and that all financial resources are used appropriately.
Ensures that all the necessary documentation is in place to facilitate the end of year financial audit, and ensures all financial records are properly filed and safely stored.
Performs Detailed Accounting Tasks and regularly supports the Finance Manager in the National Office.
Prepares and submits regular donor reports as per set deadlines and ensures specific donor requirements are met.
Evaluates procurement requests in all the projects and makes sure that equipment, supplies and services are bought and consumed in a transparent and cost-effective manner.
Implements and maintains a Fixed Asset Register for all projects within the site. Supervises regular inventory-checking and updating.
Ensures all donations, school fees and other incomes are properly accounted for, and banked
Checks and reconciles petty cash balances on a weekly basis. Ensures all invoices are being promptly settled within each project.

Administers the payroll for all facilities within the project, and ensures correct deduction of income tax, proper recovery of salary advances etc.
Ensure that all cashbooks are accurately recorded, expenses are correctly coded, and all supporting documentation is available.
Qualification and Experience:
First degree in Business Administration, accounting and finance.
Relevant Post graduate qualifications will be an added advantage
Knowledge of International accounting standards
Knowledge of child rights and child protection.
At least three years of professional experience in finance.
Experience with donor funded projects. Experience with BMZ, DANIDA or USAID Funded projects will be an added advantage
Proficiency in Computer knowledge and accounting packages are a must.
Experience in the use of Microsoft Dynamics Nav or Navision 2013 will be an added advantage.
