Position:                     Project Officer –Livelihoods/Education.
Location:                    Galkacyo, Somalia (with frequently travel to project sites)

Working hours:         8 hours per day for 5 days
UNHCR, in collaboration with relief International will also enhance that all refugee children of school age in Galkacyo district have access to basic (from 1st grade to 8th grade) and secondary education, as means to exercise their right to education. Relief international will advance advocacy for tertiary education. This will be done by engaging the relevant ministry of education and higher learning institutions under regional government of Punt land. Refugee children in Galkacyo shall be enrolled in national schools in Galkacyo just like the host Somali children.
Relief International will also provide counselling to families of school going children with an observed inconsistent attendance trend.
On exceptional basis, Relief international will help in identifying families of school going children who cannot provide support to their children because of social circumstances (physical, protection) are not able to support themselves and thus are exposed to protection risks.
The Project Officer will be a full-time member of the RI team and will play a crucial role in the management of this UNHCR funded Project (Refugees and Asylum seekers support project).
Project Management
Ensure effective implementation of project activities as per the work plan and project objectives in collaboration with FSLC;

Prepare weekly work plan and activity reports;
Be focal person to coordinate between the project committees, beneficiaries and authorities.
 Conduct education awareness campaign to establish suitable livelihood and other RAS activities and Host communities target beneficiaries.
Conduct and coordinate training activities as per the PPA and in reference to the target beneficiaries.
Provide regular updates on the schools and the attendance of the children and livelihoods situation, including areas of food access & availability, food aid, market access and coping strategies for Galkacyo.
Provide on-going food security and livelihood updates to link in to any RI programme advocacy strategy and messages on chronic food insecurity and long-term programming relating to school drop outs.
Coordinate with line ministry personnel to in spear heading for livelihood interventions for RAS communities.
Ensure implementation of project activities conforms with donor requirements and procedures;
Identify problem areas with project implementation process and notify to the management to take corrective measures in the absence of FSLC;
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Project Coordination

In the absence or by the instruction of the Field Manager, coordinate activities with other RI in Galkacyo for cross learning and improved quality of programming
With the Field Manager attend related coordination meetings with other INGOs and authorities at field level, on behalf of RI
In the absence of the Field Manager and the FSLC, liaise and coordinate with other agencies operational in Galkaio in all project related issues with.
