SOS Children’s Villages Somaliland is a private, non-political welfare organization whose primary goal is to provide permanent homes and education to orphaned and abandoned children. A further goal is to contribute to community development through provision of social, medical and educational facilities with the aim of preparing our children for self-reliance as independent members of the community. SOS Children’s Villages Somaliland is seeking to recruit one Social Worker who will be working with the SOS Family Strengthening (FS) in Berbera and performing a through social work activities.
Key duties include:
To coordinate community level disaster recovery activities and ensure that communities and participants are effectively mobilized, organized and selected as per developed criteria.
Ensure project activities are implemented, coordinated, monitored, followed-up on timely basis and proper documentations were made through project progress reports.
Identify and coordinate the training needs of the community, management committees, project participants and community health workers.
Regularly liaise with local authorities and counterparts and ensure effective use of resources.
Assist communities to develop and implement disaster risk reduction plans, draw up and format proposals for presentation to donors for identified viable projects
Facilitate ongoing participatory monitoring and evaluation throughout the project implementation process ensuring full participation of the disaster management committees and beneficiaries
Coordinate the implementation of early recovery and disaster risk reduction activities at the community level
Establish and maintain good working relationships with local authorities, leaders, project participants and other parties in the project area
Qualities and Key competences:
Knowledge on management of community based projects o Knowledge on gender related issues
o Effective communication and interpersonal skills o Leadership qualities and skills
o A keen listener, team builder and a great motivator with a capacity to live and work in a culturally diverse atmosphere.

Qualification and Experience:
First degree in Business Administration, Social Work, Education or Community Development o Full knowledge on Project Cycle Management
o Experience of business entrepreneurship will be major advantage
o Experience on community mobilization, awareness raising as well as working with children and women
o Knowledge of child rights and child protection
o At least two years working experience as a social worker. o Through Report and Proposal writing skills
o Proficiency in Computer knowledge
